I Had The Pleasure Of Interviewing Terri Montgomery
I had the pleasure of interviewing Terri Montgomery, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the School District of Monroe for this assignment. Terri has been serving in her current role for two years and has been working for the district for over 15 years in different capacities. I was able to take away a lot of information from my discussion with Terri and learn a great deal about what goes into the daily life of a Curriculum Director. The biggest thing that I was able to learn from this assignment was the amount of detail and thought that goes into the process of writing curriculum. The philosophy for our district is pretty straight forward in my opinion, including a clearly defined evidenced-based instruction for all students, while providing a respectful, responsible, and safe environment. One of the main roles that Terri said she needs to supervise is the use of instructional minutes. This is a very important component of her job and one that ââ¬Å"the district takes very seriously.â⬠Terri discussed that she really enjoys working for the School District of Monroe because the school board is very supportive of innovative practices and instructional strategies that emphasize student engagement. The middle and high school are both 1:1 with technology and grades 4-5 will be next year. Each elementary school also has classroom I Pads that teachers can utilize with their students.
